Working on a list of what to do in Los Angeles? Be sure that you don’t miss any of the fantastic art galleries and museums located in LA. Although there are plenty to choose from, we’ve decided to share a few of our favorites with you.

1. Getty Center

The famous Getty Center, also known as “the Getty”, is a must-see place in Los Angeles. The Getty hosts a diverse collection of art and antiquities. The Getty Center, designed by Richard Meier, is particularly loved for its architectural design. Note that the collection of Greek and Roman antiquities is housed in a separate building, The Getty Villa.

2. Los Angeles County Museum of Art

The sheer breadth of art on display at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or LACMA, is overwhelming. In fact, it is the largest art museum in the western United States! Whatever your artistic interests, you’re sure to find a collection at LACMA that will appeal to you.

3. Museum of Illusions

Be sure that you don’t miss the Museum of Illusions, a family-friendly museum of three-dimensional artwork and optical illusions! Perfect for those who prefer to actively participate and interact in a museum and its exhibits. The only museum of its type in Los Angeles, this unique museum is an absolute must-see.

4. Art Share LA

When it comes to the Los Angeles art scene, Art Share LA is one of the city’s most beloved icons. Located in the Los Angeles Arts District, not only does it provide artists with affordable housing; it also functions as a theater, studio, gallery space, office, and classroom! The body of Art Share LA’s work is diverse, and it is always hosting different events for the community, including tours around the city.

5. Museum of Latin American Art

General admission to this unique museum is only ten dollars, which makes it unusually affordable when compared to other area museums. MOLAA contains a carefully curated collection of contemporary Latin American art, and is the only one of its kind in the United States. Additionally, be sure to check out its bold and unusual Sculpture Garden.
